Zanzibar's edge: The variety. Nungwi in the north has full-time swimmable water (Diani has seaweed seasons in April–May). Kendwa has a famous full-moon beach party. The east coast at Paje is stunning and good for kite surfing. Stone Town adds a historic, Swahili-Arab culture layer that Diani simply cannot match.

If pure beach quality is your only criterion, call it a tie. If variety and cultural depth matter to you, Zanzibar has the advantage.

Logistics and Stress

This is where Diani genuinely wins for most couples.

You have just survived months of wedding planning. The last thing you want is to scramble for travel documents, navigate a foreign airport, or deal with an unexpected flight delay in a country where your phone plan does not work.

Diani removes all of that. You do not need a passport. You pay in Kenyan shillings. Safaricom works perfectly. If something goes wrong — a delayed return flight, a booking issue — you are in your own country and can sort it.

Zanzibar requires your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond your travel date. You will need foreign currency or a working card for the visa and initial expenses. Your Safaricom line works (roaming is available) but check your data rates before you go.
